Phoenix Natural Gas may supply a meter box at the point of connection, but upon completion it will belong to the property owner and form part of the fabric of the building. It will thereafter be the responsibility of the property owner to ensure that it is adequately maintained.
If we are asked, by the property owner to carry out meter box repairs the work will be charged in accordance with the rates listed in our Connections Policy. A summary of our meter box repair charges can be viewed here.
In many cases it is possible for property owners to obtain replacement parts for their damaged meter box and to self-repair. Our schedule of charges detail those items where self-repair may be feasible and where replacement parts might be obtained. The details can be viewed here.
Where your meter housing is seriously damaged, resulting in the integrity of our meter apparatus being compromised (e.g. open to the elements), Phoenix Natural Gas will insist that you undertake immediate repairs. Click here for more information on how we categorise meter box repairs.
